Yuan Tiangang Wuxing Sanming Zhinan (《袁天纲五星三命指南》) combines fate-calculation and astral material. The spelling 袁天罡 also circulates, but attribution, extent and individual copies must be distinguished. The similarly titled Daquan is not automatically the same edition.

An identifiable copy

Jangseogak K3-440 has fourteen juan in two volumes, recorded as seventeenth-century wooden-movable-type printing, with a 1609–1648 date range. That dates the copy, not a Tang original. The library’s explanatory note says earlier bibliographies record a fourteen-juan Wuxing Sanming Zhinan without Yuan’s name; actual authorship remains uncertain. K3-440 record.

Contents and comparison

The note describes ten juan organized by fate categories, followed by four on astrology. Other institutions hold ten-juan versions. Different extents do not by themselves establish why every shorter copy differs.

Identify whether the text is a particular Zhinan or a separately titled Daquan, then follow its actual contents. Modern Bazi and Ziwei calculators cannot directly verify every method in this work.

2026-10-24: separated uncertain authorship from proved forgery, limited extent and date claims to K3-440, and removed unchecked equivalence between titles and detailed technique claims.
